Littleton —

Matt Landers, is entering Littleton High School this year as a member of the Class of 2016 as an accomplished baseball prospect already actively engaged in the college recruiting process.

While playing for the 14U North East Baseball program this past spring, he earned the New England Elite Baseball League’s Division II Pitched Wins Award as a starting pitcher with a stellar 8-1 record (including four complete games) and 1.89 ERA against top club and private school teams from across New England.

The southpaw was also consistent at the plate while playing first base, batting .340 with a .924 OPS. Landers also supported the Littleton Middle School baseball team on the mound with a 1-0 record, 0.00 ERA and 11.5 K/BB ratio, and as a switch-hitter batted .500 with a 1.333 OPS.

During the summer, Landers played for the Westford Lou Tompkins Division A program, where he established a winning presence on the mound with another 3-1 record (including 2 complete games) and 4.3 ERA against 16U high school players from across the Greater Boston and MetroWest areas. At the plate he also maintained a .333 average and .943 OPS. He finished the season by supporting the Littleton Babe Ruth Tigers during their playoff run with a complete game 7-0 shutout against 12-1 Natick, while striking out all 18 opposing batters.

Landers continues to play for North East Baseball, a premier college preparatory baseball development program in Littleton, and works closely with professional coaches and players at Cressey Performance in Hudson on baseball strength and conditioning programs for both off-season and in-season development.

He looks forward to becoming a valuable part of the Littleton High School Tigers baseball program starting with the 2013 season.

Dog Days of Summer

The Westford 16U Lou Tompkins team has also finished its summer run with a final record of 12-7 which places it 9th in the league standings but one position outside of inclusion in the upcoming Tournament of Champions. It was a great experience for Matt to play “up” with and against High School players from across the Greater Boston area, holding his own both as a pitcher and a hitter. Matt pitched two complete game wins during the season, ending with a 3-1 record, 4.31 ERA and  .750 Win Percentage. At the plate, Matt had a respectable .333 AVG, .416 SLG, .527 OBP and 11 Stolen Bases. Now it’s time to work on pitching mechanics, hitting and fielding in preparation for the Fall tryouts.
