DirtDogs Split with Central Mass. Hurricanes

The NEB 14U White DirtDogs played the Central Mass. Hurricanes in a double-header at Pirone Park on Sat. 4/21, splitting the contests with a close loss 4-7 followed by a rout 16-3. The day’s highlights came in game #2 including a grand-slam home run by Chris W. and 5 innings of no-hit ball pitched by Matt L. for a complete game and another Win. Sunday’s games scheduled with the Mavericks were rained out.

Fri. 4/27 the DirtDogs will have an exhibition game vs. the Milton Academy freshman team, followed by another Sunday double-header rematch with Rose Baseball on the South Coast (weather permitting).  Stay tuned…


Tigers Tie With Overlook, Lose to Gardner

The Littleton MS Tigers played their second game on Tuesday, 4/24 as an away contest vs. Overlook MS in Ashburnham. The Tigers came from behind to tie 10-10 in a close game with Matt L. stroking a tying 2-RBI double in the top of the 7th to even the match. Matt then closed the door on the mound with 3 K’s in the bottom of the seventh to preserve the tie. Clutch finish. Two days later, the Tigers also dropped their game in Gardner with a close 6-8 loss. DirtDogs Take Two From Mavericks, Split With Rose Baseball

The NEB 14U White DirtDogs played the USA Mavericks in a double-header at Pirone Park on Sat. 4/14, taking both games 11-10 and 15-4. Highlights of the games included great switch-hitting by Matt L. and back-to-back homers by Chris W. Another double-header was played at UMASS-Dartmouth on Sun. 4/15 against Rose Baseball (formerly the South Shore Shamrocks). NEB won the first game 14-3 with Matt L. collecting the Win after 5 no-hit innings, and then dropped the second game in a close 5-7 contest where the lead changed hands twice. Some costly errors in game #2 led to NEB’s loss, but the boys are coming together as a great team and this will be a great year. Stay tuned for next week’s games with the Central Mass. Hurricanes on Saturday and a rematch against the Mavericks on Sunday.

Westford Waves Sleepathon to Aid Wish Project

Check out the following link to a sleepathon charity event put on by Westford Waves Softball as part of their Waves of Giving outreach this weekend. This event benefits The Wish Project of Lowell to provide beds to needy children throughout the Merrimack Valley. Go Waves!


The sleepathon was a huge success, involving 40 girls from the various Waves teams (10U, 12U, 14U and 16U), raising over $12,600! Tonight 126 kids in the greater Lowell area including some recent fire victims are sleeping in new beds because of the efforts of the girls and the generosity of their sponsors. Go Waves!

Tigers Fall to Ayer-Shirley 7-0

The 2012 Littleton MS baseball season opened on Thursday, 4/12 with an away game vs. Ayer-Shirley at Lura White field. The Tigers lost to the Panthers 7-0. Nuf Ced. This year’s Tigers are a young team with plenty of potential. Some work fixing key fielding errors and developing hitting down the order will help the Tigers grow into a wrecking crew. Looking forward to the away games next week vs. Overlook on Tuesday  4/24 and vs. Gardner on Thursday 4/26. Go Tigers!

DirtDogs Win Against Legends

The 2012 14U North East Baseball season opened with a double-header on Saturday, 4/7 vs. the Legends Gold. the DirtDogs took the pair of games at scores of 14-4 and 8-1 to establish an early 2-0 record.  Stay tuned for Saturday’s games at Pirone Park vs. the Mavericks and Sunday’s games at UMass Dartmouth vs. Rose Baseball.
