Angels beat Westford 7-4

The Angels continued their winning streak Tuesday night with a 7-4 victory over Westford in a well-fought game where the lead changed hands twice.

Offensively, Littleton came on strong with 3 runs in the 2nd inning and an additional run in the 3rd inning for a 4-0 lead. Westford answered with a run in the 3rd and 3 more in the 4th to tie the game 4-4 before Littleton retook the lead with 2 more runs in the 4th and an insurance run in the 5th to seal the win. Matt L. hit 2 for 2 with a single and double, also scoring a run. Adam D. and Robert C. both hit RBI singles and Mike W. stroked an RBI double. Adam D. stole home on a passed ball and Will B. also stole home on a head’s up call from the base coach when the Westford catcher walked to the mound without calling for time-out.

In the field, Littleton kept Westford at bay with Matt L. starting on the mound and pitching for 3 innings, striking out 9 and giving up 1 run. Mike P. relieved in the 4th inning and struck out 2 more while facing the heart of the Westford line-up. Mike W. pitched the last 2 innings and struck out 4 more to keep the door closed and secure the win.

A well-played game against a good team. Stay tuned for Thursday night baseball…
